SF Auxiliary 2020
Special Project
ULTRAVIOLET (UV) SANITIZERS
This year the San Francisco Auxiliary will provide funding for Ultraviolet (UV) Sanitizers for the Intermediate Care Nursery (ICN) at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Most patients in the ICN are premature, medically fragile newborns with an underdeveloped immune system. Parents and caregivers rely on portable electronics to keep them informed when they cannot be at the hospital - they are a lifeline for families that have a newborn in the ICN. These devices are part of daily life and travel with us everywhere. However, the reality is that they are almost never fully clean.
This technology uses the intensity of the light to kill hospital grade bugs and superbugs in only 30 seconds on portable devices, without harming the touch screens including watches, stethoscopes, ID badges, phones, pens, tablets, cameras.
These UV sanitizers will be used by patient’s families to avoid the spread of harmful germs in the ICN – keeping our tiniest patients safe. Plus, our frontline care providers staff will use the UV Sanitizers before heading home to their loved ones, ensuring safety of staff and their families.
